Spider-Man Miles Morales PS4 Review

Spider-man Miles Morales takes from it’s predecessor and ups the experience with amazing combat, story and soundtrack but does fall short on length of story and a few bugs that might only be in the PS4 version of the game.

What Spider-Man Miles Morales does right is the story, traversal, combat, and music. Story wise the game picks up a year after the events of the first game and has you going up against 2 groups of enemies trying to take control of Harlem. The combat from beginning till end was fluid and with the new combat abilities that only Miles possess adds new ways of taking down your enemies. The movement in the game was always great even in the 2018 Spider-Man but swinging as Miles feels different because of the animation and you can feel that the new web slinger is just getting the hang of his new powers. With swings that feel almost feel accidental and slip ups with momentum the game keeps you in your toes. I can’t forget about the amazing soundtrack that keeps you in a trance while you are either swinging around New York or in combat against a boss fight with your last few hit points. The music is composed by John Paesano who was also responsible for the outstanding soundtrack for the first game. With this soundtrack you do not have to play any music in the background and just enjoy the vibes while you become a hero.

Now for all the things Spider-Man Miles Morales does great it does have a few faults. Being as this is the PS4 version it might now happen the same way in the PS5 version. First off the story was short and I mean 3-7 hours in length dependingon if you skip cutscenes or not. Also some items and upgrades are hidden behind new game plus forcing replays of the game just to collect everything which can be annoying for completionists. For people who just want to play through story and do all the action packed story missions well you will feel like the game just doesn’t have enough of it. The world also doesn’t have as much things to do as the first Spider-Man and some of the old mini games are missing from miles. Hopefully they bring those back in another installment or DLC. For bugs when I was playing a noticed quite a few. One instance I didn’t have a body when I was playing the game so I was just a floating head. Another time is when I was walking in a “T” like stance throughout a level because welp who doesn’t like seeing that?. One other bug that caught me was when I was in the final scene and one Character who was talking looked like he had a guile suit on crossed with slender man, which scared me the first time I saw it then noticed it was a bug.

So for Spider-Man Miles Morales I say go ahead and pick up this game if you are a fan of the first series and want to feel web slinging in a black super heroes eyes. For all the little glitches in the game the amazing combat and story will overshadow anything you notice and you will forget all about it. Spider-Man Miles Morales will leave you satisfied and wanting more.
